About Us

Welcome to 7 Ecosse our Celtic Caterham hire car company, I’m Ian Rankine the proud owner of this company and much-loved cars! I have a long-standing passion for these awesome wee vehicles, but like most of our customers I have no motor driving pedigree, just a keen interest and desire to get out on the open road.

From being a wee Lad, my eyes and ears were tuned into the sound of an engine, any engine... From my dad’s petrol lawn mower, to a noisy V8! I could tell the subtle differences in a vehicle’s engine sounds from a standard 4, to a V6 I knew there was more power to be had in one or the other and I wanted to experience it, to feel it. I would stand on my tip toes to peer into the driver’s window to see how fast the speedometer could go, or to see if there was a 5th gear?!

A great childhood memory was the weekly trip to the pool, I hated swimming but the treat for me was that car ride. My Dad an accomplished and experienced country road driver would make us feel like we were flying on the zig zag route, every corner every gear change was exciting to me.

In my youth my car obsession grew as in time I became the owner of An Alfa Romeo 75 3L v6, a dodge ram STR10 8.3 V10, and 1966 V8 Mustang and a BMW M5 to new just a few... I loved them all but ever since my first drive in a Caterham about 16 years ago, nothing has compared to that drive, to that car! The sheer connection to the road this compact vehicle provides is unlike any driving experience I’ve ever had, it’s the ultimate open road driving experience for petrol head like me.

It will not surprise you I grew up to be a Mechanic and Garage owner; Perth Car Care being the proud home of 7 Ecosse. With over 25 years of experience in Mechanics, body work and car restoration and with a family of my own I’m able to share my love of cars with my partner and our children and together we’re delighted to share our love of these cars with you too.

Caterham’s demand the ultimate respect with no ABS, no traction control, and no air bags, just a human, a machine, and the open road. I don’t mid admitting that my very first drive in one made me nervous, but I soon fell in love with the vehicle as it demanded my attention for every corner and fast stretch but driven with respect and a sensible head it’s an unbeatable driving experience on the open road.

If any of this rings true to you then I highly recommend booking a 7 Ecosse Celtic Caterham hire car today. My main objective is to offer you the chance to drive one. Not every one can afford and can commit to buying, owning, and maintaining a £25,000 sports car but I’ll bet you'll want to join the club after a few hours in one of mine!

If none of this rings true, please hire one anyway, why? Simply because my other passion is my homeland Scotland it is such a beautiful country with such spectacular views what better way to experience than from a gentle drive by in an open top Caterham sports car.
